Two years ago I received an invitation to a church (that’s right, I said church) in Mason, Ohio with a caption on it that read "Church is boring. It’s irrelevant. A waste of time." It went on to say that church has become a waste of time in our country and that new methods must be experimented with. My first reaction to this piece of literature was throwing it where it belonged – the trash. It wasn’t two weeks later however, and I had received several of these invitations with similar captions on them. As an 18 year old kid who was just starting to really study the Word I decided to e-mail this church and politely explain to them why I would not be attending their church services. I told them that I strongly disagree with their statement of purpose and that they are approaching "church" in a completely unbiblical manner by trying to make it about the people – make sure the people are comfortable, make sure the music satisfies the people, and make sure the messages don’t offend the people. I said it’s not supposed to be about THE PEOPLE, it’s supposed to be about HIM! To my surprise, I received a personal reply from the pastor of this church the very next day. His reply was typical of the type of church that I want to write about – THE SEEKER SENSITIVE CHURCH.
